Education and Potable Water Minister Mantri Prasad Naithani on Tuesday inaugurated the website of 'Uttarakhand Jal Sansthan' at Vidhan Sabha auditorium. The department’s website can be visited by the consumers for grievance redressal, obtaining new water/sewer connection and online payment of their bills.

While informing the mediapersons, Naithani claimed that Uttarakhand has become first State to start this facility. “The common complaint of people against Jal Sansthan is that its officers do not pick up phones. But now with this facility the officials would have to attend the complaints of people in a time bound manner,” he said. The Minister expressed happiness that the Jal Santhan is in sync with the modern times and updating itself with the changing technology.

While giving the demo of the facility, Chief Engineer of Jal Sansthan, SK Gupta, said that to avail this facility the consumers should log on to http://ujs.uk.gov.in and register their complaints on the complaint registration link.

The complaints can be lodged both in English and Hindi. He informed the department has prepared mobile apps based for payment of bill and getting the status of the complaints. The consumers can download these apps from Google Play Store (android phones) and Windows Phone Store (window-based phones). The consumers need to register online to avail the facility on their mobile phones.

Gupta informed that costumers can also register their complaints on a toll free number 18001804100. He said the toll free number facility is operated by an outsourcing agency and has no interference of department officials. Gupta said that he would keep a close watch on the status of complaints and the steps taken to address them.

The Jal Sansthan chief engineer said one of another major grievance of people is that they are harassed by the department officials when they visit the office for a new water connection; he claimed that by availing the facility of applying online for new connection such complaints would be minimised.
