The State of Uttarakhand has been selected for an award for excellent performance in food grain production, category II for the year 2016-17 by the Government of India.
The Union minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Radha Mohan Singh informed the State’s Agriculture minister Subodh Uniyal about this in a letter. Congratulating the minister and staff of the agriculture department for being chosen for the award, the union minister states that they put in dedicated effort to provide technical inputs and extension services to the farmers due to which the state was able to achieve this award.
The award will consist of Rs one crore cash and a citation letter. The award is proposed to be presented during the Krishi Unnati Mela slated to be held in Delhi during February-March 2019.
The union minister has asked Uniyal along with the agriculture secretary and agriculture director to attend the function to receive the award.
