PNS

In connection with the PG course admission controversy dogging the Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust (HIHT), Jolly Grant, the State police may take action against Special Operation Group (SOG) personnel who have allegedly not shown the exact amount recovered from the arrested swindlers.  In connection with the case, Dehradun police had so far arrested five swindlers who are now languishing in Sudhowala jail.

It is learnt that SOG had not cared to inform the senior police officers about the swindlers being arrested and interrogated by them. It has also been alleged that a large sum of money recovered by SOG from the swindlers have not been disclosed. They had disclosed recovery of Rs2 lakhs while the real sum is much higher, sources in police said.

The State police had appointed IPS Dr Sadanand Date to conduct fair inquiry into role of SOG, in particular, and the case, in general. Date had submitted report to the DGP BS Sidhu. The State police may take action against SOG personnel on the basis of Date’s reports.

Dalanwala police station inspector Anil Kumar Joshi said that recently, Karnataka-based doctor Dr Shivdarth Kulkarni and Delhi-based doctor Dr Amardeep Kumar had registered cases regarding the same and police would seek police remand of the accused, now lodged in Sudhowala jail. So far around 16 doctors across the country had recorded their statements, he added. Investigation revealed that the accused had cheated around 100 doctors hailing from different parts of the country by duping them of huge sums varying from Rs10 lakh to Rs90 lakhs each for the promised admission in PG course in HIHT, applying the same modus operendi.
