Uttarakhand Parivartan Party said that the land consolidation as envisaged by the State Government would help more the land mafias rather than the farmers unless some appropriate provisions of revenue act and special provisions under Article 371 of the Constitution are rightly enforced in the State.
The party’s vice-president Suresh Nautiyal said that the land consolidation is a serious thing and to help it succeed, the Government should not allow itself to get entangled in claptrap. “More serious thinking is required to help things move forward. People must be actively involved and their suggestions must be given due importance before the state Government firms up its policy on the matter of immense importance for the hills,” he said.
Ridiculing the State Government’s boast of bringing about development, he said it is nowhere to be found on the ground. “We have observed this in course of the parivartan yatra that the party launched. The people are fed up with the lack of development and the corruption and nepotism eating their way deep in the life of the State. They are seeking relief from the duopoly of Congress and BJP. They are bracing up to change things for the better. Our party is emerging as the alternative to the discredited duopoly. We would give a transparent, sensitive and development-friendly Government if voted to power,” he averred.
