State Excise Minister Prakash Pant said on Monday that State Government is trying to de-motivate the people on the matter of liquor consumption in the State while answering to a question raised by an Opposition MlA, asking for the State Government’s explanation over the non-availability of the multiple brands at the liquor vends.
The MlA also asked the minister to state the steps the State Government has taken to check smuggling of liquor in the hills.
Pant said that the Government being aware of liquor being smuggled in the hilly parts of the state, they have restricted the closing time of the liquor vends in the hills at 6 pm. However, the Opposition MlAs said in unison that the state government is promoting smuggling of liquor in the hills through the restriction put in terms of time.
