State Employee Joint Council called off its strike after receiving assurances from the Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Tuesday.

However, the association members boycotted works throughout the day on Tuesday, demanding rectification in pay anomalies.

Instead of going to their offices, the agitating employees assembled at Vikas Bhawan and shouted slogans against the state government for not rectifying the pay anomalies.

The association spokesperson Arun Pandey said that they had boycotted works throughout the day as per a prior announcement on Tuesday. Things thawed after the CM intervened and convened a meeting at his official residence.

Chief secretary, secretary finance and other finance department officers attended the meeting while   Prahalad Singh, Babu Khan, Shakti Prasad Bhatt, RS Bisht, Nand Kishor Tripathi, CP Suyal, Guddi Matuda, Anju Badola and Renu lamba represented the agitating association.

The association president Prahlad Singh said they had put several demands before the CM for consideration. They included the demand of the rectification in pay anomalies as per the sixth pay commission recommendation. They also demanded  seventh pay committee recommendation be implemented in Uttarakhand from October this year.

Besides, they demanded that all the state government employees and the pension holders be provided with the facility of health smart cards. They further demanded replacement of the old pension scheme with a new one.  Besides, the age of retirement should be increased to 62 years and the service of the contractual employees be regularized.

During the meeting, the CM assured the association members that their concerns would be redressed in no time.   He directed the chief secretary to look into their issues seriously.

The association spokesperson Pandey said that the meeting of the association members with the CM was positive. "We are sure that our concerns will be redressed in a month as per the CM's assurances. We have thus decided to call off our agitation," he added.
