Bharatiya Janata Party senior State leader Vinod Sachdev said that Chief Minister Harish Rawat should resign from his post as the public had discarded Congress in the recently concluded lok Sabha elections despite which the State government is marred by anomalies which have not been resolved yet. He alleged that the CM is working on the one-point agenda of retaining his position.
Sachdev alleged that the Chief Minister is pursuing a one-point agenda — that of retaining his position as the CM. "To keep the MlAs appeased he has given various portfolios and positions to the MlAs to ensure their continued support to the CM. It is the culture of the Congress to please the party leaders at the cost of the public exchequer. The first elected Congress government in Uttarakhand headed by Narayan Dutt Tiwari had distributed more than 200 red beacons to party leaders and the present Congress-led State government is also focused more on retaining its position by misusing public money than on ensuring public welfare," he added.
Due to anomalies in the relief and rehabilitation works in areas affected by the June 2013 disaster, the people of Uttarakhand are disappointed with the Congress. The public, particularly the youth are angry with the State government as jobs in various government departments are being given to the relatives and supporters of ministers and politicians. The BJP will raise this issue in the Vidhan Sabha and on the roads, added Sachdev.
