The police officers at the rank of circle officer and police station in-charge were directed to reach the accident spots on being informed and take appropriate steps, said Nainital SSP Janmejay Khanduri while chairing a meeting with the district officers on Wednesday. He reviewed monthly road accidents and crime reports with them during the meeting. While reviewing the crime status, SSP directed the police officers to intensify patrolling in their assigned areas. Steps should be taken to solve registered crime cases, he said, adding that to control road accidents, police officers should install barriers near the densely populated areas. They must come down heavily on rash driving, drunk driving and overloading, he said. Action should be taken against those caught boozing at the religious places in the hills. In view of forthcoming Holi festival, police officers and personnel should be alert and vigilant on the anti social elements, SSP said.
He directed the police station officers to take action against illegal mining activities. The police officers especially working in the mining prone area should keep a record of vehicles, he said. SSP also ordered the police station officers to restrict entry of heavy vehicles near schools during the time schools open and close.
