PNS

The incessant rains since Thursday have swelled Solani and Ban Ganga rivers at different areas of laksar in Haridwar district. It is learnt that around two dozen villages situated on the banks of both the rivers have been put on high alert. However, the administration, which is closely monitoring the situation, said that things were under control with no report of loss of life or damage to  property being received so far.

It is further learnt that the water level of the two rivers flowing  through laskar region of Haridwar district is yet to touch the danger mark.   But situation in some villages like Jogawala, Madabela, Chandpuri, Sherpurbela, Dabki Kheda and Naiwala-located on the banks of  Ban Ganga- is  grim as the swollen river has damaged  embankments at some places.

Similar situation is prevailing in villages like Jenpur, Ransura, Matlubpura, Nawada, Dhadheki, Mahesari, Alampur, Prahaladpur and Shahpur, all situated  on the banks of Solani river. "Swollen Solani is breaching embankments at several places and the water has entered some low-lying areas and damaged some crops, including sugarcane,” an administrative officer said.
