light to moderate rainfall at isolated places in plains and rain with snowfall in higher reaches of Uttarakhand is expected to occur in the next 24 hours, said Uttarakhand Meteorological Centre director Anand Sharma on Friday. He attributed this to western disturbances and induced cyclonic circulation over Haryana and neighbouring districts. The weather is expected to improve on January 19.
Sharma said that the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 18.5°C and 8.0°C respectively in Dehradun on Friday. Uttarakhand has come under the grip of cold conditions following western disturbances. He further said that the weather forecast for Dehradun on Saturday is generally cloudy sky and thunder cloud development/thunder showers at some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 18°C and 07°C respectively on Saturday in Dehradun. Hail possible at isolated places (about 20 per cent possibility) in the State.
