Vehicles stranded on the Chamba-Mussoorie motor road blocked at Buranskhanda and Kanatal following snowfall were made mobile on Sunday. locals and tourists cleared snow off the road in order to move the vehicles. An excavator reached by afternoon and cleared the snow to reopen the Chamba-Mussoorie road to traffic.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Chamba-Mussoorie motor road had been blocked on Saturday evening at Buranskhnda, Jwarna, Kaddukhal and Kanatal following snowfall. The vehicles of some locals and tourists and others who had arrived here on hearing reports of snowfall remained stranded at various places throughout the night. In addition to this the drivers of milk carrier vehicles could not drive further ahead of Kanatal and Jwarna. Occupants of the stranded vehicles sought shelter at hotels and dhabas to spend the weekend night. With clear sunny conditions developing by Sunday afternoon, the stranded tourists took the help of local residents to clear the snow for extracting their vehicles. After the excavator arrived later in the day, the snow was cleared off the motor road at Buranskhanda, Kanatal and Jwarna to facilitate regular traffic.
