Two months ahead of the Kanwar Mela which begins in the month of Shrawan (monsoon season), the district magistrate Deepak Rawat reviewed the road repair and utility installation works on Friday from Shankaracharya Chownk to Jatwara Bridge.

He sounded displeased over the snail’s pace with which the  road repairing and peyjal pipeline laying works are being conducted. He  also asked the officials to finish the work well before the Kanwar pilgrimage starts. He asked the officials to start laying pipelines along both the sides of Nehar Patri Marg (Ganga Canal Road route) and installing  overhead water tanks from Saturday. He directed them to do the guarding works wherever needed on urgent basis.

The DM instructed the officials of the ADB company which has been given the turn key project of building Kanwar Patri Marg to complete the task well within the stipulated time. He also asked them to give him daily reports  of progress along with photographs.

An estimated Rs 22 crores are to be spent on the building of   Kanwar Patri Marg. Till now, works involving Rs six crores have been completed. DM said that the work of langar construction near Jatwara bridge must be completed by 30 June.
