Six candidates to sweat it out for Gen Secy post

PNS

The election for post of general secretary in students’ union election at DAV (PG) College is expected to be interesting as six

candidates representing various students groups are likely to be in the fray this year.

Observers say that NSUI has been losing the election for the post of the union president to its arch rival ABVP for some years because of the factor of dissidence set deep into it.

However, names for the post of general secretary would be cleared as the process of filing nomination would be held on August 29.

Though ABVP is yet to announce its candidate for the post of the president its main rival NSUI has announced its candidate’s name for the post on Tuesday.

Aryan Group has declared Suraj Kohli as the candidate for the post of general secretary while Kapil Sharma would be the candidate for the same post from Satyam Group.  Jatin Gupta from Pattu Group, Vipin Panwar from SFI, Ajay  Pundir from Nishchaya Group and Rakesh Thapa from Chhatra Yuva Manch are likely to try their luck for the same post.

Aryan Group member and acting college students’ union general secretary Sachin Thapliyal sounded confident that his Aryan Group candidate Suraj Kohli would win the election hands down this time too.

“Aryan Group gives tickets to those members who work hard for at least four or five years on the concerns of the students,” he said.

NSUI state president Shyam Singh Chauhan informed that Ayush Gupta is their candidate for the post  of the president.

Names of Saurav Mamgai and Vikas Negi did the rounds, but finally Gupta was favoured with the nomination. Chouhan rejected the view that his group was suffering from the problem of dissidence.

“We are united and we would announce the names of candidates to contest for other posts soon,” he added.
