Special Investigation Team (SIT),  now on the lookout for the fugitive former special land acquisition officer (SlAO) DP Singh, one of the accused of the multi-crore NH-74 land acquisition scam, has secured non-bailable warrant against him from the court on Wednesday.

State additional director general of police (law and order) Ashok Kumar said on Wednesday that SIT teams have been conducting raids at various places across the state as well as some other parts of the country to nab the scam accused. “After we have secured non bailable warrant against Singh the next step is to attach his properties under sections 82/83 of CrPC,”  he added.

Circle officer Swatantra Kumar who is investigating the case said that they hope to arrest Singh soon. The state High Court had on October 28  had vacated its stay order granting him exemption from police arrest following which Singh had moved Supreme Court and filed a special leave petition to evade police arrest which was later rejected. Since then Singh has been on the run.  Keeping the possibility of Singh escaping abroad in view, police have already released a look out notice.
