Shiksha Parishad fails to meet board exam evaluation deadline

PNS

As apprehended earlier the Uttarakhand Vidhyalayi Shiksha Parishad is unable to complete the evaluation process of board examination in scheduled time. The Ramnagar based board has started the evaluation process at 28 centres of State on April 22 and the process was scheduled to complete on May 1. The delay in board examination and general election forced the Ramnagar based board to curtail the evaluation period to ten days this time. The board also deployed more teachers this time in evaluation duties but the evaluation process which was scheduled to be completed on Thursday (May 1) could not be completed on Friday also.

The Secretary of Uttarakhand Vidhyalayi Shiksha Parishad DR Mathela told The Pioneer that evaluation process in 21 out of 28 centres is over; he claimed that the entire process would be completed by Saturday. He said that board has deployed 3,681 examiners for class X and 2,117 examiners for evaluating copies of class XII students. Mathela said that, 11,876 copies of class X and 8,001 copies of class XII remain to be checked as on Friday evening.

The educationists had expressed their displeasure at the reduced time period this year for the evaluation process and said that undue haste in checking the answer sheets could compromise the quality of evaluation process. The board reduced the time to accommodate teachers to be available for election duties but with delay in evaluation process it appears to be seen how these teachers who are engaged in twin duties of evaluation and electoral assignments manage to fulfill both tasks.
