After experiencing rough weather in the capital city since last night, several colonies faced unexpected power cuts ranging from one to three hours with remote areas were among the worst sufferers.
The Power department officials kept running for removing the technical snags for ensuring the disrupted-free power to the consumers. Apart from facing the scheduled power cuts in the Garhwal and Kumaon divisions of Uttarakhand, the residents also faced the unexpected power cuts on Friday.
The Power department officials said that power lines automatically trips during the inclement weather and rectifying the technical snags is the only solution for ensuring disrupted-free electricity supply to the consumers.
It is also equally important to mention here is that the Kumaon division of Uttarakhand faced the power cut for longer duration due to the maintenance work done Moradabad line by PTCUl. However, department officials claimed that linemen were charged to rectify the errors and power supply became normal till Thursday evening except few localities in the capital city.
The localities that faced the power cuts were Chak Shah Nagar, Nehru Colony, Shastri Nagar, Dharampur, Rajpur Road, Patel Nagar, Govindgarh, Haridwar Road, Subhash Road, MDDA Colony, Kewal Vihar, Shanit Vihar etc. Even though the supply of power has resumed but the problem of low voltage still prevails in most part of the city and likely to improve in the coming days.
One of the department sources who wished anonymity told The Pioneer that linemen and technical staff were strictly instructed to overcome the technical snags as soon as they were informed about the problem. He said that breakdown in the circuit was the main reason for erratic power supply as the circuit automatically cuts down during storms or heavy thunder showers.
