The problem of acute shortage of potable water would have been easily overcome if the recently constructed two overhead water tanks get water connections.

However, department officials claimed that overhead water tanks will start very soon. According to the information available, two overhead water tanks were constructed at Balbir road and Haridwar road under JNNRUM project.

The purpose has not being solved yet due to the callous approach of the State Government.  Among the affected colonies are Balbir road, Inder road, Green View Colony, Chukhuwala Mohalla, Kalika Mandir etc. are facing the acute shortage of potable water besides, the problem of leakage and contaminated water has also become a perennial problem in the region.

Residents lamented that the supply of potable water is disrupted in the region and the residents are forced to traverse several kilometers to quench their thirst.

It is also equally important to mention here is that several other areas of the capital city are also facing the acute shortage of potable water and the problem of shortage of potable water has already turned grave in the remote parts of the district.

One of the department sources from Peyjal Nigam said that the stern instructions are already released to the officials for giving water connection to overhead water tanks for overcoming the acute shortage of potable water.
