Uttarakhand Congress Spokesman Dhirendra Pratap has urged All India Congress committee (AICC) President Sonia Gandhi to formulate a separate agriculture policy for the hill States of the country.
In a statement released on the eve of the Chief Ministers conference going to be held in New Delhi on December 27, Pratap said the geographical and environmental conditions of hill and plane regions are much different and therefor it is most emphatically required that separate policies should be made for these two different areas.
He also attracted the attention of Mrs Gandhi towards the menace of pigs and monkeys, which had biggest trouble for Uttarakhand farmers who had got now only ten percent land for cultivation and that land produce, were also looted by these wild animals. He asked her to launch a campaign either to caught, kill or catch them, so that state farmers could get relief from them, he added.
