Select committee, constituted to discuss the Transfer Act and lokayukta Act as referred by the Vidhan Sabha, met in the Vidhan Sabha premises to discuss the Transfer Act on Thursday. It is learnt that the committee, which has received 388 suggestions from the people on the act, discussed them with the members of the employees’ union. The meeting that went on for close to three hours was attended by all the members except MlA Govind Singh Kunjwal.
A senior government official who was present at the meeting said that as the act has several sections they would incorporate changes in the sections in tune with the suggestions received so far. “It would take time to complete the process. We would have to sit many more times in the coming days to give the act the final shape. Meanwhile, the committee asked the employees’ union to give their opinion over the suggestions sent by the people,” he added.
The official’s statement has made it clear that the report of the committee is most unlikely to come up during the two-day special session of the Assembly slated to start on May 1.
