Security has been tightened in the State ahead of Eid festival on Saturday. Additional police forces have been deputed at religious places to ensure that Eid festival is observed peacefully. Intelligence officials and police station officers have been directed to be alert and vigilant so as to stop the anti social elements from fomenting trouble anywhere. No one will be allowed to take laws in their hands, said a senior police officer.
In Dehradun district, the traffic police has drafted traffic plan that includes traffic diversion involving several routes to spare inconvenience to the common people. Zero zones have been marked between Bindal Bridge and Kishannagar chowk to ensure Namaj is held there peacefully. Vehicles would not be allowed to ply from Clock Tower to Chakrata Road. The vehicle going towards Cantt, Ballupur from Darshanlal Chowk via Clock Tower have been diverted and it would follow the routes -Rajpur Road, Cant Road and Ballupur.
Dehradun SSP Pushpak Jyoti said that additional police forces have been deputed at mosques and important places to keep peace and harmony during the festivities.
The circle officers and police station officers have been directed to conduct vehicle checking drives in their jurisdictional areas at random. At Bindal Idgah, Bomb Disposal Squad personnel have been deputed and proper checking of visitors will be done, police said.
The vehicles going towards the City from Kishannagar Chowk will follow the routes as Cantt, Kaulagarh and will be diverted at Dilaram chowk/Ballupur chowk.
Barrier has been put up at Ballupur and vehicles going towards the city will be diverted there and it would follow the routes as Cantt or Balliwala Chowk.
The vehicles going towards Dehradun from Delhi/Saharanpur have been diverted at Chandmani crossing and would follow Wadia Institute routes- GMS Road, Shimla bypass and ISBT. The vehicles going towards Delhi/Saharanpur from ISBT will be diverted at Turner Road and would follow the routes Clement Town, Subhash Nagar, Saharanpur/Delhi routes.
