Elaborate security arrangements are being put in place in view of Vidhan Sabha Budget session scheduled to begin from March 20 at Bharadisain in Garisain, said Chamoli SP Tripti Bhatt while talking to The Pioneer on Friday.
With the possibility of a number of outfits sending activists to rally around the Vidhan Sabha at Bharadisain to press for the official announcement of making Gairsain the permanent capital of the State during the upcoming Budget session, the district police have spruced up the security in the district on Friday.
While barricades are being set up at many places additional police forces have been sent from the police headquarters to strengthen the security there, she said, adding that the intelligence staffers who have been deployed at several villages and important places to ascertain things from the ground are alert too.
She further said that the Vidhan Sabha area has been divided into four zones and the police officers of the rank of additional SPs would head each zone. “Four companies of PAC jawans have been deputed along with two companies of women PAC.
Traffic police, quack response team and other forces will be available. The persons while entering the Vidhan Sabha would be thoroughly frisked and the vehicles entering the Assembly premises would be checked too,” she said.
Adequate police forces comprising sub-inspectors will be deputed at the barricades to be set up, she said and added that they have been directed to check persons and vehicles to keep risks off. Following the direction of senior police officers, additional forces will be deployed at the sensitive places, she informed.
Police patrolling and vehicle checking drives have been intensified in view of the upcoming Assembly session, Bhatt said, adding that elaborate traffic plan has been drafted too. Adequate police forces, including some of them in civil dress, will be deployed at the sites where the stirs are to be staged, she said.
“We are leaving nothing to chance as far as security for the session is concerned,” the SP said.
