State Election Commission Joint Secretary Dr RS Pokhriya instructed the district election officers to ensure tight security in the counting centres of the three-tier panchayat election 2014 and instructed the district magistrates and superintendents of police to make proper arrangements for a free, impartial and peaceful election. According to the instructions given to district election officers by Pokhriya, one police circle officer must monitor two vote counting centres and a police inspector must be deployed at each counting centre.

To maintain peace near the counting centre, no vehicle should be allowed to enter within a radius of 200 metres except vehicles of officers and employees on election duty.

Only the candidate and his election agent can enter the counting centre.

Pokhriya instructed that the permission for vehicles to the candidates fighting election should be given for the election campaign according the commission’s guidelines.

The candidates for posts of Gram Pradhan and Block Development Council member should be permitted one light vehicle each for campaigning before the polling while in District Panchayat, one vehicle each should be allowed for a candidate and his/her election agent for campaigning.

The permission for the vehicle will be given by election officer or assistant election officer. He stressed on the need to monitor the activities of dummy candidates stating that in case a dummy candidate is found campaigning for another candidate, the vehicle must be seized and the campaign expenditure incurred by the dummy candidate should be added to the expenditure of the other candidate in question.

The officials should ensure that plastic items are not used in the Panchayat election campaign, stressed Pokhriya.
