After analysing the distribution of force at district level in Dehradun, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Arun Mohan Joshi said that they have started scrutinising the force. He said that the force from those units that have comparatively lesser work will be used for the enforcement of law and order and proper traffic management.
SSP Joshi said, “During the analysis of force distribution it came to our notice that the force at police station level is over burdened while the force in several units is comparatively less burdened.
So in order to lift some burden off the police stations we have started to scrutinise the force. We have already deployed 40 personnel from SSP office for traffic duty with the SP, traffic, also being instructed regarding this.”
He further added, “Similarly, SP, crime, has been instructed to speak with the circle officers concerned and then decide which cases can be transferred to the Special Investigation Section (SIS).” It is pertinent to mention here that two inspectors and nine sub-inspectors have also been deputed to the SIS as part of the ongoing exercise.
