The State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) has written a letter to the home secretary seeking an update on action taken in the Vasu murder case.
SCPCR chairperson Usha Negi said that the parents of the two children who were held responsible for the death of Vasu have come forward and asked for help claiming that their children are innocent. Also, nothing by the home secretary has been done so far in pursuance of past communications from the SCPCR.
Negi said, “As we said earlier the two children are spending their life in jail are innocent. Both are 18 years old and were framed by the police and school administration with a fake promise of early release but this never happened. The parents of the children along with other parents of the students in school have come forward and asked for help citing the same thing that both the children are innocent.” Adding about the sent letter she said, “I wrote a letter on March 29 to the CM asking for a probe by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the case after which directions were given to the home secretary on May 20 by the CM.
However, no update in the case was sent to us. We have now sent a letter to the home secretary seeking an answer. Necessary steps will be taken if the answer will not be satisfactory.”
It will be recalled that 12-year old Vasu Yadav was allegedly murdered in the Children Home Academy in Haridwar during March this year.
