Following the direction of Uttarakhand Education minister Mantri Prasad Naithani, the education department has sent a proposal to the State Government for providing 10 per cent allowance on grade pay to the teachers who are teaching in schools located in inaccessible and most inaccessible areas of the State, said school education director CS Gwal while taking to The Pioneer on Thursday.

Recently in a meeting with the education officers, the education minister admitted that there has been shortage of teachers in the schools located in inaccessible and most inaccessible areas of the State.

He expressed disappointment at teachers who have not joined their schools located in inaccessible areas of the state after being transferred under Uttarakhand Teacher Transfer Policy 2013.

“Taking cognisance of this and to ensure teachers are available in the schools located in most inaccessible areas, we have decided to provide allowances to the teachers who work in the schools located in inaccessible area of the State. Apart from this, the Government will take all possible steps for deploying teachers in those schools where teachers are not available as per government standards,” the minister added.

He expressed hope that with this decision, teachers would join their posts after being transferred to the schools located in inaccessible areas.

In the meeting, Naithani had directed the education officers to maintain transparency while appointing block resource coordinators and cluster resource coordinators in the state. Issues pertaining to Bhojan Mata will be addressed soon, he added.

The education officers were directed to ensure that construction and repair works of Government schools which were destroyed or damaged in the recent disaster are completed soon.

The education minister directed the education officers to submit a proposal with suggestions on appointment of Shiksha Mitra and Shiksha Acharya for their appointment as physical education teachers in Governmentschools. Photography of under construction schools is needed to be done from time to time through independent agencies.
