Scholar's Home flayed

PNS

The management of one of the prominent schools of the city, Scholar’s Home school here is being blamed for demanding fees from poor students registered under the Right to Education (RTE) Act. On Friday, a delegation of All Uttarakhand Parents Association met the District Magistrate (DM) Ravinath Raman with some parents of the school. In a written complaint Mohan Bhatt, Bal Bahadur, Asha Rai, Rajesh Singh and Pushpa Devi alleged the school management was threatening to remove their wards from the school. They complained the school authorities were also not allowing their wards to sit in the examination and enter the school premises.

The president of the association Niraj Singhal said since the schools get the fees of the poor students admitted under RTE from the state government the demand of fees is illegal. The delegation demanded stern action against the school management on the issue. When contacted the Principal of Scholar’s home school Chhayya Khanna told The Pioneer that the school was not demanding the fees from the parents of the students admitted under RTE. She said that these parents were asked to submit Rs1800 per student per annum as term fees.
