Sans basic resources, NH repair work hit

Poor availability of basic resources have adversely hit repair works on the important Sitarganj-Tanakpuar-Tawaghat national highway (NH-09).

The Border Road Organisation (BRO), that has been assigned the task of the repair and widening work between Chalthi and Ghat stretch of NH-09, doesn’t have minimum basic infrastructural facilities like that

of a stone-crusher to carry out the repair works on the important national highway stretching from Sitarganj- Tanakpur to Tawagaht.

The fact is that as the officials concerned of the BRO have said, poor availability of basic resources like a stone-crusher has badly hit repair works on the Chalthi- Ghat stretch of the important Sitarganj-Tanakpuar-Tawaghat national highway (NH-09).

“We have already submitted proposals in regard to repair and widening works between Chalthi and Ghat of the said NH-09 for clearance from the Government and the department level, informed the officials concerned.”

But the BRO officials further said on account of not having a stone-crusher they are facing problem in carrying out the road repair works between Chalthi and Ghat which is part of this NH-09. After a joint survey with other departments like revenue, forest and environment, irrigation to name a few, a proposal has already been submitted to the Government for setting up a stone crusher at Chalthi so that the road repair works could be carried out.

Meanwhile, Deependra Chaudhary, District Magistrate, Champawat, has also asked the officials concerned to take necessary steps for setting up a stone crusher at Chalthi. Taking a meeting in regard to the widening and repair works of the NH-09 in Champawat on Tuesday, Chaudhary also asked the officials concerned to maintain transport services on this road.

He also asked the officials concerned to equip all the sensitive points on the said NH-09 with signboards so that road accidents could be prevented.

At the same time, the District Magistrate also directed the officials from the BRO and PWD to prevent encroachment along the road sides.
