PNS

A sanitation worker was caught in the act of putting bandage on a patient by the District Magistrate (DM) of Udham Singh Nagar at Community Health Centre (CHC) of Kithcha on Tuesday. The DM has asked the in-charge of CHC, Dr R K Dubey to submit an explanation for the incident.

The DM, Akshat Gupta was on a surprise visit of the hospital when he witnessed this act. later speaking to The Pioneer, Gupta said that it was improper on the part of the doctor on duty to allow a sanitation worker to  put bandage on the patient. The DM said that the doctor explained that he was busy catering other patient when the sanitation worker was doing this act which grossly violated the ethics of the medical profession.

The DM, however, was not satisfied by this plea and asked the doctor to submit a written explanation. Gupta informed that he has asked the Chief Development Officer (CDO) who is the head of Hospital Management Committee of all CHCs of the district to undertake regular surprise inspection of the health centres.

The DM was also annoyed over the pathetic sanitation conditions at the CHC and asked the in-charge to take immediate corrective measures.  When contacted the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Udham Singh Nagar, Dr S K Joshi said that the written explanation would be seeked from Dr Dubey over the incident and based on which further action would be taken. The CMO however appeared to shield the erring doctor by stating that the CHC has less pharmacists then required.
