Director of Corbett tiger reserve Ranjan Kumar Mishra has been transferred and replaced by State biodiversity board member secretary Sameer Sinha. The transfer orders were issued on Monday evening.
It will be recalled that Corbett had elicited controversy during the later part of Mishra’s tenure as its director as attempts had been made to cover up the death of a tigress in the core zone last year. Wildlife activists had accused him of abetting corruption and causing deterioration in the wildlife security in this renowned tiger reserve, though Mishra had refuted the allegations.
He has been transferred to the post of conservator of forests, Yamuna circle while the incumbent CF Yamuna circle RN Jha has been transferred to the post of biodiversity board member secretary.
