Considering the sizeable number of serving and ex-servicemen in the State, the Sainik Samaj Party will field its candidates in the Assembly election, said its president Balveer Singh Parmar on Thursday. Singh alleged that both the national parties- BJP and Congress- had failed on the development front. He averred that his parity will fight for making a permanent capital of the State apart from raising issues pertaining to common people’s interests like road, electricity, drinking water, education, health and employment.
He said that his party will field its candidates in about 40 assembly constituencies. In the first phase, names of six candidates have been declared. Shiv Kumar will contest from Yamunotri, Seetaram Ranakoti from Devprayag, Usha Negi from Narendranagar, Narayan Thapa from Sahaspur, Pallavi Kukreti from Khanpur, OS Panwar from laksar.
He said that his party had fielded candidates in the previous assembly election too. None of them won but did better than many of the 34 parties that were in the contest in terms of votes.
