FIR has been registered against BJP MlA from Rudrapur Rajkumar Thukral who had allegedly beaten up and abused a person identified as Satish Kumar Sharma, resident of Meerut (Uttar Pradesh) in the Rudrapur  police station on September 28 when Sharma who had been arrested was going home after obtaining bail.  The MlA said he had beten him up as he had threatened and abused him  over phone. Police acted after the video showing the furoius MlA showering blows on Sharma went viral on the  social networking sites.

A police officer said that the MlA should not have taken law in his hand after police had arrested him while acting on the complaint the MlA had lodged.  Observers are of the same opinion. They say that the MlAs are the lawmakers. “They are the protectors of the laws enshrined in the Constitution. What the MlA has done is wrong from all acounts as he beat up a person who was arrested by police in the police station itself,” said one of the observers.

Notably, Sharma had registered a complaint against MlA Thukral on September 29  following which a case under Sections-323 and 504 of IPC had been registered against the MlA in Rudrapur police station, said Rudrapur police station incharge Tushar Bora, adding that the case is being investigated by sub-inspector Dheerandra Singh Parihar.

After the action of the MlA drew flak from all quarters Udham Singh Nagar SSP Sadanand Date ordered an inquiry after he handed over the case to circle officer Swatantra Kumar with the direction to submit the report within five days. Swatantra Kumar has been directed to conduct an inquiry into the alleged  police negligence as Sharma had been beaten up  by the MlA within the police station premises.
