During Ruby Choudhary’s police remand, the investigators (SIT) found a passport in which she was shown as an IAS officer, source revealed. It is learnt that the passport was issued from lucknow after 'due' verification by the officer concerned. Besides, the team has got a letter purportedly written by Ruby, stating that she was resigning from the post of the SDM. The letter was addressed to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).
The SIT has sent two teams for Delhi and lucknow on Wednesday. The lucknow passport officer, who had verified Ruby’s document would be questioned. Besides, the team sent to Delhi would enquire as to whether the UPSC has received the letter Ruby is supposed to have written, said Garhwal IG Sanjay Gunjyal .
Notably, the Dehradun court had recently given permission to the SIT to un-seal the materials collected in course of the investigation to take the probe further. SIT teams have been visiting lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (lBSNAA) campus from time to time to grill the academy officials over the documents seized. The team members have also been examining the recorded statements of the Academy officials against evidences so far collected.
However, the probe till now remains focused on Ruby alone. The investigators have not taken things forward and adequately fixed responsibility. "We wonder why they are dragging their feet when it comes to taking things to their logical conclusion. Things are proving a riddle as it is not a mystery that some senior Academy officials were complicit in the case. We hope the real mystery behind the case would be unraveled soon and the complicity of others would be defined," an observer said.
It should be mentioned here that Academy security officer Satyaveer Singh had registered a case under Sections 420/467/468/471 of the IPC against Choudhary in the Mussoorie Police Station on April 2 evening. Ruby was arrested on April 3 night on the charge of clandestinely staying in the Academy premises for around seven months while posing as an IAS probationer.
