Rs10 lakh for kin of murdered rape victim

PNS

The Government announced that it would provide Rs10 lakh with immediate effect to the bereaved family of the raped and murdered Dalit woman of Udham Singh Nagar.

Replying to a question by Kichha MlA Rajesh Shukla during the Zero Hour under Section 58 of Vidhan Sabha proceeding, the Home Minister Pritam Singh said that the incident was unfortunate and disclosed that he had already instructed police to the crack the case as soon as possible.

Earlier raising the issue on the floor of the House, MlA Shukla had demanded a debate on the incident under Section 310, however, the Speaker agreed to have the matter discussed under Section 58 during Zero hour.

During the debate, Shukla alleged police had lost its credibility as they were hand in glove with the criminals. The nexus is what is emboldening the goons to fire shots at the cops, he said.

He said such heinous crimes were happening thanks to the hooch racket thriving. This was being made available locally with the connivance of police or others. Police were patronising them because they get money in return.

“The lady was in mid 30s. She was offered a lift by someone on March 12, this year while returning home from lalpur haat. Her body was found lying on a nearby land,” he said, adding that the crime looked all the more heinous because of her being a poor Dalit.
