The Union Government has cleared a grant of Rs 143.50 Crore for Panchayati Raj bodies in the state. The amount is transferred as per the recommendation of the 15th Finance Commission and is tied grant.
The additional secretary and director of Panchayati Raj H C Semwal said that the amount would be used in works such as sanitation, rain water harvesting and water conservation activities in the villages.
It is pertinent to mention here that all 7791 Panchayats in the state are linked with the Public Finance Management System (PFMS) platform of online transfer of funds.
Recently the centre had released an untied grant of Rs 143.50 Crore for Panchayats and the State Government too had transferred its share to the Panchayat bodies.
