Apparently frustrated with the Union Government for not providing due importance to him and All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), Rishikesh, its director, Dr Rajkumar has tendered his resignation.

A famous neurosurgeon, Dr Rajkumar was the first Director the institution founded in the year 2012.

The Government has accepted his resignation and handed over the charge to the director of AIIMS Jodhpur, Dr Sanjeev Mishra.

Dr Rajkumar was reportedly upset with the Government for ignoring the institution. It is learnt that he had shot off a letter to the Government last week citing many points which shows the apathy of the Government. Sources however informed that Dr Rajkumar probably miscalculated by shooting off his resignation letter to the Health Ministry.

“He was hoping that the Government would not accept his resignation but it could not get materialised,’’ said one of an independent observer.

The tenure of Dr Rakumar was laced with many controversies in recent past.

He was accused of being short tempered and being rough to his juniors. last year the sanitation workers of the hospital went on strike when he reportedly slapped one of the workers.

He created controversy when he said that the AIIMS Rishikesh should be closed. However the institution also took shape under his leadership and many departments were opened in last four years.
