The 37th district rifle shooting competition will be held from February 27, 2015 in Kandoliya Ground at the district headquarters, Pauri. It would continue till March 1.

The dates for the rifle shooting competion was fixed at a meeting of the District Rifle Association presided over by District Magistrate Chandra Sekhar Bhatt. The competition could not be organised in 2013 due to the natural disaster that occurred in Kedarnath valley, Chamoli, Uttarkashi and a few  other regions of Kumaon and also due to the 2014 elections. District Rifle Association joint secretary Jaspal Singh Negi told The Pioneer that things were all set for the competition being held after a span of two years.  It will be held on February 27 and 28 and   also on March 1 next.

Since its creation, Pauri District Rifle Association is active in promoting shooting by hosting such competition where the shooters from Garhwal region, in general, and those from    Pauri district,  in particular, take part. Negi said that efforts are on to popularise the event further so that the number of shooters increase in the coming days. Due to the increase in the cost of cartages, the association is facing difficulty. However, we would continue with it despite all odds, added Negi.

Negi said that myriad events involving students, officials, journalists and senior citizens would be held during the competition. Besides, there would be a balloon shooting in men and women categories aside from revolver/pistol shooting, archer and the like.
