Three days after  the deadly terror strike on the  Army  base at Uri in Jammu and Kashmir, killing 18 Indian soldiers, the people are still angry and they  are vehemently demanding the Centre to avenge the attack. While talking to the cross section of the people, this correspondent feels   that the wave of anger the terror strike spawned would not subside till India decisively  steps in to teach the perpetrators lessons. Meanwhile, processions are being taken out and meetings are being held daily by way of articulating anger. Candle marches and effigy burnings are also being held. At some places, yajnas are being  arranged. Aside from the  political activists, the students and the traders are hitting the roads to vent anger.

On Wednesday, chairman of Rashtriya Hindu Kranti Dal (RHKD) Sanjeev Chaudhary announced that `1 crore would be given as reward to the person who gets the head of Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. Speaking to The Pioneer, Chaudhary said, “Since the time the country was partitioned, thousands of Indian soldiers have fallen to the  bullets fired by the   Pakistan-nurtured terrorists. It is intriguing as to why the Government is found dithering when the  situation warrants tough action in the national interests.”

Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad activists burnt effigy of Pakistan’s PM at Chandracharya Chowk while residents of Misserpur Colony burnt  Pakistan in its effigy and paid  tributes to the martyred soldiers.

The students of Kanya Mahavidyalaya lighted candles on the banks of Ganga in the memory of the martyred soldiers. Students  of Patanjali Yog Peeth and Gurukul Kangri University took out rallies to express anguish  over the Government refraining from taking the  required action against Pakistan-abetted terrorism. Members of Varishtha Nagrik Mahasabha, Uttarakhand Vikas Manch and Rishikul Chhatra Kalyan Parishad condemned the  Uri attacks while  demanding the  Centre  to do something to stop the terrorists and their mentors from repeating such attacks.

The president of  Jameeyate Ulema Hind Maulana Sharafat Ali  also raised his voice against  the country’s soldiers falling to the terror bullets.

Speaking to The Pioneer, Acharya Bal Krishna of Patanjali Yog Peeth said, “Though India has been a country of saints and sages who have always propagated the ideology of peace war is sometimes necessary for the establishment of peace.”

He appealed to the Government to go for decisive action to end the gory spiral of terror taking increasing toll of lives in India.
