Twelve women of Meerpur Village who gave birth to female child last year, were felicitated during a programme organised by Student Welfare Department (SWD) of Indira Gandhi University (IGU) on the university campus on Friday.
Vice Chancellor, Mohinder Kumar, who was the chief guest on the occasion, honoured the women by presenting them blankets. Addressing the gathering, he called upon other women and men of Meerpur Village present there to work against female foeticide for improving the gender ration in Rewari district.
“We are these days carrying out a special campaign under which women cell of the university along with students and social activists motivates rustic women against female foeticide by visiting their villages,” said the V-C.
