Taking a review meeting of the former defence personnel of Zila Sainik Kalyan Parishad in Mela control room on Wednesday, the district magistrate Harbans Singh Chugh discussed their problems and offered the possible solutions.
During the meeting, the issues related to renewal of registration licenses, ex-servicemen contributory health scheme (ECHS) and canteen stores department were discussed. The ex-military servicemen who were working in the district clarified their queries on registration with the Parishad and the benefits.
Regarding the renewal of licenses, DM said, “The renewal of registration licenses have to go through verification processes at many levels. If the army personnel are from other states, the previous licenses have to be first cancelled and then fresh licenses are issued in the States they are presently in, processes that take a longer time.”
DM asked the Zila Sainik Kalyan Adhikari to give a proposal for formation of sub- committee for resolution of conflicts in ECHS and canteen- related issues.
Chugh said that former defence personnel who, hailing from other States, had been working in Haridwar for the past five years, could be provisionally registered provided they submitted their old registration certificates within three months, failing which would imply that the earlier registration was cancelled.
Zila Sainik Kalyan Adhikari B S Negi said, “In the financial year 2015-2016, for the former defence personnel, 267 identity cards were issued and 101 were registered for employment. Till date, 4982 identity cards have been issued and 1213 registrations done for employment. Three widows have been helped in their daughters’ marriages with `1 lakh each and under general scholarship scheme, scholarships have been given to the students.”
Former Army officer Brig R P Agarwal, Col H S Sharma and city magistrate Jai Bharat Singh were among others present in the meeting.
