Unscheduled power cuts continued to hit normal life in different parts of the region. The electricity supply went off around noon on Sunday in different parts of the Haldwani city including Mukhani, Gasgodam Road, main Haldwnai city, Kaladhungi Road, Kushmkhera and adjacent areas.
Apart from the domestic consumers, the industry sector seems to be worst hit due to poor availability of power nowadays to the industrial units in the hill State. As the industrialists have complained time and again, shortage of electricity supply to industries for about six hours daily have become a routine affair resulting in having an adverse impact on the industrial outcome. In the meanwhile, as the figures provided by the Uttarakhand Power Corporation limited (UPCl) suggest, whereas the gross availability of power in Uttarakhand is presently around 31.02 million unit (mu) perday i.e. about 10.64 mu per day from domestic sources, about 13.14 mu per day from Central pool and rest about 7.24 mu per day from other sources, the demand for the power has gone upto 33.69 mu per day of late showing a gap of about 2.67 mu per day between demand and supply.
