Release of child's body: Ruckus at Mahant Indiresh hospital

PNS

Commotion erupted in Mahant Indiresh hospital campus here on Tuesday when the Mussoorie MlA Ganesh Joshi and his supporters held a vociferous demonstration. They alleged that the hospital authorities demanded money to release the body of a child who died in the hospital. The reports suggest that 4-year-old Krish, a resident of Mussoorie, died in the hospital on Tuesday morning. The child was admitted to the hospital last week after he was having fever. The father of the child, Khem Singh, alleged that the hospital authorities demanded pending amount of Rs10,000 for releasing the body of the child. He alleged that the hospital staff misbehaved with him.

The relatives of Khem Singh made a call to local MlA Ganesh Joshi who reportedly assured the Chief Medical Superintendent (CMS) of hospital that the pending amount would be deposited. The MlA reportedly got furious when the body of the child was not handed over to his parents even after his assurance. He arrived at the hospital along with his supporters and raised a commotion. The CMS of the hospital Dr Vinay Rai later apologized for the incident and the body of the child was handed over to the grieving parents. When contacted the Spokesperson of the hospital Bhupendra Raturi denied that the body of the child was held by the hospital. He said that the delay was only procedural and the intention of the hospital was not to harass the parents.
