Former Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Amrita Rawat, one of the dissident  Congress MlAs who later switched to the BJP, has written to the Governor, asking that an order be passed to release the balance money of the sanctioned amount of Dadanagraja pumping drinking water scheme. She said that the prompt sanction of the money was needed for the  people suffering from drinking water scarcity, who eagerly awaiting the completion of the scheme.

Rawat in her letter stated that there was a provision of drinking water supply to 96 bastis under 27 gram panchayats by the Dandanagraja gram samuha pumping drinking water scheme. But not a single gram panchayat or basti has been supplied the drinking water so far.

This despite the superintendent engineer Pay Jal Nigam and construction division assuring in a  letter dated 10-04-2015 that the water would start being supplied by June 2016. The former MlA stressed that there was administrative and financial approval of `2263.67 lakh while `1,050.55 lakh has been sanctioned so far.

Till now, only a small part of the project has been completed  due the fund crunch. The constriction work has remained paralysed, she  said. The people are resenting the delay, the newly inducted BJP leader said.
