Kala Foundation Drug Rehabilitation Centre head Chandra Shekhar Bisht has rejected media reports about seven inmates escaping from the centre due to inhuman treatment by the staff while undergoing treatment for substance abuse.

With the help of meditation and counseling, those addicted to substance abuse are being treated at the centre, he averred.

Bisht said that earlier he was himself an alcoholic but was able to overcome alcoholism after getting admitted in rehabilitation centres at New Delhi and Panipat. He also worked as an employee for around two years in the Panipat rehabilitation centre. In 2007, he established drug rehabilitation centre named New Golden Future in Dehradun which was later renamed as Kala Foundation drug rehabilitation centre, Aryanagar. Since its inception, around 300 substance addicts had been admitted and underwent treatment for their substance abuse at this centre.

With the help of meditation and counseling, those addicted to substance abuse are being treated at the centre. Those addicts who follow the instructions and have the required self determination are cured in the centre.

Moreover, he said that seven inmates had escaped from the centre for which the staff had filed a police complaint in the Nalapani police post. According to Bisht, he was undergoing treatment in hospital on July 12 and could not be linked to the incident.
