After the Pauri sessions court on Wednesday granted transit remand for three days for the rape accused Nikhil Priyadarshi and his father Krishan Bihari Prasad, a former IAS officer, detained in Pauri while absconding from Bihar on Tuesday, the stage was set for the duo to be taken back to Bihar by a Patna police team that has arrived in Pauri.
State additional director general of police (law and order) Ram Singh Meena said that two policemen from Bihar have arrived in Pauri on Wednesday. “We have handed them over to the Patna Police after the completion of the legal formalities. A team of Pauri Police - one sub-inspector and two constables - would accompany the police team from Bihar,” he added.
It should be mentioned here that the accused duo - the son was an accused of an attempted rape case involving a daughter of a former Minister of Bihar, and the father was an accused too for allegedly threatening the survivor of consequences - had been absconding since the special judge court, SC/ST Patna, had issued an nonbailable warrant against them in February 2017. A case (FIR:26/16) under sections 354/354(a)/506/34 and 3(i)(R) (S) SC/ST Act, section 376 of IPC and section 3 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act had been registered against the duo in SC/ST police station, Patna.
Police sources said that the accused duo was produced in the court of Gunjan Singh, civil judge (senior division)/ magistrate. The court has permitted three-day transit remand for both the accused to Patna Police.
In course of vehicle checking drive at around 11.30 am on Tuesday, Cheela police post personnel had signaled a Haryana registered plate number vehicle to stop for checking. As the police had questioned them about their identities the duo had revealed their names that aroused suspicion.
The police later had checked their details and found that they were the same fugitives the police had long been on the lookout for.
The duo had then been brought to the Cheela police post where they were grilled, said Pauri senior superintendent of police Mukhtar Mohsin.
