Though he kept himself away from answering media queries in detail and did not come forward himself on the Ram temple issue pending in court, the RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said that Ram temple was a symbol of honour and dignity (maan aur maryada) and saints had risen on the issue in one voice. He said he was also part of this revolution. “Mandir santon ne hi banana hai hum santon ka samarthan kartey hain” (Temple is to be made by saints and we support the saints) said the RSS chief.
In response to media queries, Swami Ramdev said that two options were there before the government regarding construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya. One, the bill is passed in Parliament and second that the people themselves make the temple. This was in the hands of the government. If people took law in their own hands and made temple themselves, there were chances of communal disturbance.
He further said that prime minister Narendra Modi was a ‘Rashtra Bhakt’ and there was no opposition to Ram temple by the country. “There could be opposition to Bhartiya Janata Party or Modi but no one can oppose the Ram temple.” Ramdev also made it clear that some people were linking it to Ayodhya title suit case whereas it was not the issue of land. Giving his consent to Modi in strong words, Ramdev said, “If the Government can do land acquisition for making National Highway and other monuments, it can acquire land for the temple too which existed earlier and give that land to the Trust.”
He said getting Bill in the Parliament was the best option before the Modi government.
