Ram Mandir must come up in Ayodhya at any cost, thundered Vishwa Hindu Parishad leaders and a proposal was passed on the emotive matter in course of the two-day   core committee meeting of the outfit that concluded here on Tuesday.

Mahant Dharamdas of Agni Akhadha said they would send the adopted proposal to the Centre, asking it to start construction of Ram Mandir at Ayodhya at the earliest. “The Centre must take the initiative, come what may,” he said.

“BJP must approach Supreme Court, seeking its opinion on the matter.   If required, a separate court can be constituted,” he said. Cautioning BJP against procrastinating on the matter, he said things must turn hostile if the ruling party backtracks on its stance on the sensitive issue.

Quizzed over BJP dithering over taking a firm decision on the matter during one year it is in power in the Centre, Mahant Kanhiya Das, president of Ayodhya Sant Samiti and senior member of Ram Nayas Janam Bhoomi, said BJP and Ram Mandir issue are inseparable.

“BJP is always ready to move forward. The former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee summoned a joint session of the both Houses of the Parliament to have POTA passed. The same can repeat regarding Ram Mandir issue,” he added.

However, the VHP officiating president Pravin Bhai Togadiya refused to talk to the media persons.
