Showers at isolated places in Dehradun and rainfall and snowfall in higher reaches of Uttarakhand brought the temperature down on Thursday.
People in Uttarakhand experienced the advent of winter due to snowfall in the higher reaches and rains at isolated places in plains due to western disturbances and induced cyclonic circulation over Haryana and neighbouring districts, said Uttarakhand Meteorological Centre director Anand Sharma on Thursday. He advised the people to cover their body properly.
The State capital was swept by winds accompanied by intermittent showers throughout the day bringing down the temperature.
Most parts in the State saw mild spells of rain while rainfall and snowfall in higher reaches brought the temperatures down considerably.
Doon residents woke up and found weather suddenly changed. The State capital witnessed light drizzle with cloudy sky throughout the day compelling many to remain indoors.
Many were seen wearing woolens to tackle the temperature drop. There is a slight possibility of improvement in the weather on Friday with the possibility of rainfall in the higher reaches due to western disturbance.
Prominent hill stations including Mussoorie, Dhanaulti and other places also experienced rainfall while snowfall with rain was experienced in higher reaches of the State.
Sharma further said that the maximum and minimum temperatures in Dehradun were recorded at 24.5°C and 13.4°C respectively on Thursday. The weather forecast for Dehradun on Friday is generally cloudy sky and thunder cloud development in some areas.
The maximum and minimum temperatures here are likely to be around 27°C and 13°C respectively on Friday.
The weather forecast for Uttarakhand on Friday is rain/snow at a few places in higher reaches and rain/thunder shower at isolated places in rest of the State.
On November 2, the Met office has forecast mainly clear to partly cloudy sky and dry weather over the state. Sharma claimed that as per his forecast, Dehradun received rainfall at isolated places and the weather is expected to improve in the next two days.
