Gusty winds accompanied by rains that swept across Dehradun in the evening hours brought down the mercury by a few notches on Monday. However, the people were inconvenienced as trees flattened during the storm disrupted power supply in vast areas of the capital city. The power was restored around 10 pm in many of the affected places, it is learnt.
The maximum and minimum temperatures recorded in Dehradun on Monday were 35.8 and 20.6 degree Celsius respectively. The Meteorological Centre Dehradun director Anand Sharma said light to moderate rainfall (03-15 mm) and thunder- storm might occur at several places across Uttarakhand on Tuesday too. Even there might be snowfall (01 to 05 cm in depth) at places with height of around 4000 m and above on Tuesday.
The lakshman temple and Hemkund Sahib shrines in Chamoli district, where the annual pilgrimage began on Monday is likely to experience more snowfalls on Tuesday and in the coming few days, he said. According to him, the temperature would be the same in Dehradun as recorded on Monday on the following day.
