Uttarakhand Meteorological Centre has forecast rain/snow at a few places in the mountainous regions especially higher reaches of Uttarkashi, Chamoli and Pithoragarh districts on Tuesday. Rain/thunder shower may occur at isolated places in the rest of Uttarakhand on Tuesday. Snowfall (01 to 10 cm in depth) may occur at places situated at an altitude of 3,200 metres and above, said Uttarakhand Meteorological Centre director Anand Sharma on Monday.
The officials are monitoring the developing situation, he added. State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) battalion commandant P Renuka Devi said that SDRF teams have been deployed at higher altitude regions in Rudraprayag, Uttarkashi and Pithoragarh districts.
The teams have been updated of the weather forecast and put on high alert, she added. Meanwhile, Sharma said that in Dehradun, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 28.5°C and 14.2°C respectively on Monday.
The weather forecast for Dehradun on Tuesday is mainly clear becoming partly cloudy sky towards afternoon/evening. Thunder cloud development may occur in some areas. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 29°C Celsius and 16°C Celsius respectively on Tuesday in Dehradun, added the Met official.
