Incessant rainfall in the State Capital for the last two days coupled with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) examinations and inadequate management by the police caused traffic congestion on several busy roads of Dehradun on Monday, the first working day of the week.Traffic congestion was witnessed at Rispana Bridge, Dharmpur, Survey Chowk, Dilaram Chowk, Clock Tower, Ballupur, Saharapur Chowk, Shimla bypass, EC Road, Chakrata Road and other places in the city.
During morning hours, traffic police were found absent  from many crossings due to which vehicle drivers violating traffic rules to reach their destination without delay further exacerbated the traffic congestion. Some drivers had to spend up to an hour extra to reach their destinations. Traffic police were witnessed at various crossing at noon resolving traffic at their assigned place.
Monday being first day of the week, the officer goers, Class X and Class XII board examinees and others who come out from their home for their respective destinations faced traffic jams during morning hours.  The road users expressed outrage at the administration for not deputing traffic personnel at the crossing to resolve the traffic. Sohan, resident of Jogiwala said that in anticipation of rainfall throughout the day, he took his car to reach his office. He reached his office situated near the Secretariat after spending about 45 minutes while trying to negotiate a traffic jam.
